Empowering Language Learners Globally Since 1985
In 1983, the International Testing Services Center under San Diego State University conducted research on the development of an English test with professors, linguists, and evaluation experts from the University of California, Los Angeles, Georgetown University, and Rado International College. For about three years after the completion of development, feasibility was verified and completed through sample surveys and preliminary test trials in countries around the world, including the United States, China, Japan, and Saudi Arabia, and the test began officially in 1985.
Our Legacy of Excellence
Originally affiliated with the College of Extended Studies at San Diego State University, ITSC has a rich history of administering the G-TELP (General Tests of English Language Proficiency) as a college admission test. Over the years, G-TELP has gained recognition as an English assessment leader for government organizations in the US, China, and Japan. Our tests were even designated as the official English evaluation tool at the 1988 Seoul Games Olympic Games and 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. ITSC has separated from SDSU in order to collaborate with more universities, while continuing to be firmly committed to the development and refinement of programs designed to help English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students at all levels learn English, as an independent educational measurement and evaluation organization.
